How Are Wisdom Teeth Extracted?
There are two ways to remove wisdom teeth: simple extraction and surgical extraction.

With simple extractions, wisdom teeth are removed after they’ve already emerged from the gum line. In just a few minutes in the dentist’s chair, the wisdom teeth can be extracted. For the extraction, Dr. Schmelter and his team will anesthetize the patient to make sure they feel minimal pain and remain comfortable.
- Surgical Wisdom Teeth Extraction
In some cases, wisdom teeth are still below the surface of the gum line, or they have broken down. When this occurs, the patient will require surgical extraction. For this extraction, Dr. Schmelter will cut into the gum tissue to manually remove the wisdom teeth from the jawbone.
